Test Type: Failure Analysis Case Studies: Water Treatment Plant A water treatment plant was experiencing excessive filter clogging on their influent lines. Analysis of the filter media by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed that they were inundated with diatoms. As it turned out the stream that the treatment plant was operating from was experiencing an algae and diatom bloom due to a warm spell.   |
