Fibrous Talc
Fibrous talc is a mineral made up of magnesium, silicon and oxygen. In particular, talc deposits and the talc ore is co-mingled with asbestos. The IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) has classified talc that contains asbestos as “carcinogenic to humans”. Through the diverse instrumentation available at EMSL Analytical, Inc., we can test talc ore and products for asbestos by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
